At Eccleston & Hart, we are committed to conducting our business in an environmentally responsible manner. As specialists in Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) products, we recognise both the challenges and the advantages associated with this versatile material and strive to use it as efficiently and sustainably as possible.
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is composed of up to 98% air, making it a lightweight and resource-efficient material. Its production uses minimal water and energy, involves no toxic substances, and generates very little pollution. In addition, the majority of EPS products we use and supply are manufactured in the UK, significantly reducing the environmental impact associated with long-distance transportation.
We actively recycle all of our EPS waste. Scrap material is either broken into beads using a granulator and mixed with new beads for block moulding or compacted into bricks and sent to recycling depots. These recycled products are used to manufacture a wide range of items, including garden furniture, plant pots, picture frames, and roof tiles, helping to conserve natural resources.
EPS is fully recyclable, durable, and energy-efficient, offering benefits that are often overlooked in comparison to other packaging materials such as paper or bio-based plastics. Its insulating properties also contribute to significant energy savings when used in construction and packaging applications.
Eccleston & Hart is committed to continuous improvement in environmental performance, using EPS in a responsible and sustainable manner while ensuring our processes and products contribute to a lower overall environmental impact. We aim to provide our customers with products that are both high quality and environmentally conscious.
